Broadway Baptist Church Partnership

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Buckner Children & Family Services and Broadway Baptist Church have partnered to provide various community ministries and services that are provided through the Gene Thompson Baptist Center (located at Broadway Baptist Church). All services are provided Monday-Friday. The primary contact for these programs is Scott Davis, Baptist Center Director:

• Adult Clothing Program: Adults receive used and new clothing

• Children’s Clothing Program: Families and individuals who live in eight designated zips codes receive new school uniforms and used children’s clothing

• Financial Assistance: Families and individuals who living in a designated service area receive emergency financial assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities

• Food Pantry Program: Families and individuals living in a designated service area receive groceries on a regular basis

• Prescription Assistance: Individuals who live within a designated service area receive assistance with antibiotic medicines

• Sack Lunch Program: Person in need, including homeless and day laborers, receive sack lunches each weekday morning

• Transportation Assistance: Families and individuals receive limited gasoline assistance for the purposes of medical appointments, employment, and social service appointments


There are many additional ministries provided through the Buckner/Broadway Partnership. The primary contact for these ministries is Dan Freemyer, Director of Community Ministries:

• Agape Meal: Each Thursday evening meals are served family style to those in the community who desire a hot meal

• Habitat for Humanity: Supports to local efforts to build decent, affordable housing

• International Friends: Women from many foreign countries are taught English (beginning to college level), crafts, sewing, and other fellowship opportunities

• Professional Development and Technology Training Program: provides eleven weeks of basic job readiness skills combined with computer training

• Pennsylvania Place Ministry Council: Broadway members and residents of Pennsylvania Place Apartments, an income based housing development, work together to develop meaningful connections and relationships

• "Seeing a Difference" After-School Program: Licensed after-school child-care provided to families living in the immediate community

• StraighTalk Program with "The Bridge": volunteers lead a weekly character building and ethics class for youth in the Bridge Youth Emergency Shelter, the only facility of it’s kind in Tarrant County
