OVERVIEW
Family Pathways is self-sufficiency program designed to provide families with the opportunity to live in a safe and secure environment while obtaining a higher education. In conjunction with El Centro Community College, program participants have the opportunity to attend school and obtain their educational goals. The program also allows the participant to learn the necessary skills needed to become self-sufficient and prevent child abuse and neglect. Through these efforts, the program participants are provided a full continuum of support through the provision of affordable housing, high quality child care, financial assistance, vocational training, parenting education, budget training, life skills, and individual and group counseling.
REFERRAL SOURCE
Buckner Family Pathways accepts referrals from a variety of sources including social service agencies, churches, relatives, and friends. Self-referrals are also accepted.
CHILDCARE
Children ages 2-5 may attend the Mi Escuelita Preschool. The Mi Escuelita Preschool at Buckner is an early childhood program dedicated to teaching English and developing early learning and literacy skills. It is designed for at-risk children of all cultures in order to provide preparation for a successful school experience. Mi Excuelita will also provide services to the Family Pathways program participants by encouraging them to help in the education of their children and to develop teaching skills in the home.
