Foster/Adopt Care

Mission Statement:
Foster care is not a lifetime commitment to a child; rather, it is a commitment to be meaningful in a child’s lifetime.

Buckner Foster Care Provides:
• Family care for abused or neglected children and teenagers
• Specialized therapeutic homes for child abuse victims with emotional and behavioral problems
• Temporary care for children and teenagers whose parents are suffering serious health or financial difficulties

Foster Children:
• Range in age from birth-17
• Need security, guidance and structure in their lives
• Require love, support, nurturing and attention

Buckner Foster Parents:
• Are emotionally and financially secure
• Adhere to Christian principles
• Work as team members to meet the needs of foster children
• Possess at least a high school diploma or GED
• Participate in orientation and engage in on-going training
• Receive monthly reimbursement to help cover the added expenses of each foster child

Buckner Children and Family Services:
Buckner Foster Care is a department of Buckner Children and Family Services in Lubbock, which is dedicated to the healing and restoration of children and families.

Buckner Foster Care provides support:
• Our knowledge of the system.
• We can answer questions when court cases are confusing or need explanation.
• We provide in-house therapy when needed.
• We provide training for the challenges foster and adoptive parenting incorporates.

As part of the statewide ministry of Buckner Baptist Benevolences, the largest social service ministry of its kind in the nation, Buckner serves the entire West Texas area through services such as foster care, after school programs, and parenting classes.
