Buckner Family Place is a multi-unit transitional housing program in Midland that provides safe, affordable housing to single parents and their children while the parents are enrolled in an educational or vocational program.  Buckner Family Place celebrated it’s grand opening on November 15, 2002 and admitted it’s first tenants on December 18, 2002.  Buckner Family Place is an eight-unit apartment complex next door to Hearthstone located at 425 Pecan Street. Buckner Family Place will help single-parent families move from welfare to work.  Family Place will be a safe haven for families who need a long-term place to live.  Family place has four duplexes with a total capacity for eight families.  The complex  has a playground located in the center of the facility and a surrounding fence for safety. The program will provide professional counseling and case management to enable families to recover from past abuse, avoid future involvement with violent situations, learn healthy parenting practices, and get the most out of their educational and job training opportunities. We help hurting families have access to the time, safety and resources they need to heal and to gain independence from welfare, domestic violence and child abuse.  By breaking destructive cycles within families, Family Place gives hope to a new generation of West Texans.
