| La Ropa 5k Run |
| La Ropa 5K run, benefiting the Rio Grande Children's Home, had a great turnout. Ricky Walker, a 16 year old Boy Scout from Troop 76, organized the event in order to achieve the Rank of Eagle. More than a hundred people showed their support by lacing up their tennis shoes for the event. Men, women and children of all ages participated in this heartwarming event. With a great array of volunteers under the direction of Ricky Walker, the race was a great success. The funds raised by the event will benefit the children at the Children's Home in Mission. | School of Hard Knocks |
Impoverished colonias along the Texas/Mexico border have become a classroom for students from the Baptist University of the Americas.
Maura and Guillermo Escobar, along with Rolando Aguirre are doing foreign missions. Cheyenne Solis and Omar Chavarria see themselves as home missionaries.
Together, they travel the same highways and byways of the lower Rio Grande Valley, their vehicles loaded with food, blankets, heaters and hope.
One moment they are students. The next, they’re teachers. They are always ministers.
