Adoption and Maternity Services Provides domestic adoptions and maternity services, as well as adoption services through the foster/adopt program. (Adoption)
After-School Program - Provides mentoring, social skills, character development, recreational activities, tutoring and supervised play with the help of staff and volunteers in a safe environment. (Youth & Child Care)
Assessment Center - Short-term programs which provide shelter to children while conducting tests to help insure children are placed in the foster home or residential program that best meets their needs. (Assessment Center)
Camp Buckner - An inter-denominational Christian summer camp open to boys and girls ages 4-12 for day camp and 6-15 for residential camp. Retreats and conferences are facilitated throughout the rest of the year for church groups, corporations, social groups and families. (Retreats & Conferences or Youth & Child Care)
Case Management Services - This program offers clients access to supportive social services available in the community. Client assistance, parent-education classes, individual therapy, educational support groups and summer youth activities are many of the services provided. (Family/Life Education)
Counseling Center - Licensed professional therapists provide community-based counseling services to children, adolescents, families or groups experiencing emotional, behavioral or relational problems. (Counseling)
Day Care Centers Licensed day care provided to at-risk children in connection with Family Place/Family Pathway programs and community-based, low-income housing complexes. (Youth & Child Care)
Emergency Assistance - Individuals receive needed help with food, clothing, rent and utilities, furniture and medication. These programs receive donations from individuals and groups within their community and distribute to those who are in need. (Family Support)
Family Place - Transitional housing designed to strengthen families and promote self- sufficiency while moving them from welfare rolls to the workforce. Residents are enrolled in an academic, vocational or rehabilitation program. Assistance with childcare is also provided for residents’ children. (Family Care)
Foster Care Services - Residential care designed to care for children in a family setting. Therapeutic foster homes are used to provide care for children with emotional and behavioral problems, while children with special medical needs are cared for in habilitative foster homes.
Homemaker Services - Provide in-home help and skill training to families who are at risk for abuse/neglect or are in crisis situations.
Mentoring Adults connecting with at-risk children by providing a positive influence and strong role modeling through one-on-one relationships.
Mi Escuelita Collaboration between BCFS and Mi Escuelita for the operation of a language-based pre-school program.
Mission Coordination Services Coordination of mission trips and activities into specific communities, such as the Colonias along the Texas border.
On-site Supportive Services Family-based programming within a community located at an apartment complex or church. Services include individual, family and group counseling, job skills/technology training, GED, emergency assistance, after-school programs, faith-based character development training, and grief and loss counseling. PAL (Preparation for Adult Living)/ICM (Intensive Case Management) Services Classes are offered to youth age 15 and over in the conservatorship of the State of Texas. These youth have often missed opportunities to learn necessary skills for adulthood due to their abuse or neglectful family-of-origin and a transitory upbringing in foster or other institutional care. Topics include finding housing, managing a budget, shopping for groceries and other practical skills. Group or individual case management may also be provided. (Family/Life Education)
Respite Services - Respite care for children ages 0-13 whose family needs temporary respite. A new component to this program is “Teen Time” which provides an after-school program for 40 teenagers in middle school. There is no charge, but parents must volunteer 2 hours each month. Residential Group Care - Basic residential childcare designed to serve children and youth with a minimum of emotional, behavioral, and physical needs.
Residential Treatment Center - Residential care designed to service emotionally disturbed children and youth needing a higher degree of structure and supervision than can be provided by residential group care.
School-Based Programs Educational classes at schools within targeted neighborhoods designed to educate, train, empower and involve females, ages 7-17 years of age in achieving the skills necessary to refrain from unhealthy activities. (Family/Life Education)
STAR - Services To At-Risk youth are offered to children, ages 7 to 17, who have a recent history of running away, juvenile delinquency, truancy or family conflict. Services may include group, individual or family counseling and may be offered in the client’s home. Case management and other supportive services are also provided as needed. (Family Intervention)
Summer Day Camp - Joint effort with the Junior League of Longview that provides six weeks of day camp, Monday through Friday, during June and July. Social skills and Bible lessons are stressed in a high energy and exciting environment, along with crafts, recreation and other small group activities. (Youth & Child Care)
Technology Resource Centers - Comprehensive computer literacy and job training programs for children and families. The center provides five basic support components: job skills training, a personalized Vocational Aptitude Test, assistance with developing a personal resume, opportunities for mock interviews, and training in various computer software programs for all age groups.(Family/Life Education or Family Support depending on program)
TRAIL (Transition to Responsible Adult Independent Living) This program is intended to aid PRS youth aging out of foster care (ages 18-21) with the transition to life as an adult.
